Im am interested in understanding evolutionary processes such as host-parasite coevolution, local adaptation, evolution in changing environments and the evolution of the genome. Other interests are the evolution of sex (genetic recombination) and genetic diversity. In my research group, we use a multitude of approaches ranging from observational field studies to experimental work in the field and the lab, from simple mendelian genetics to whole genome sequencing and analysis, from experimental evolution to artificial selection. The main study system are Daphnia and its parasites/pathogens.
Here are the main topics my group works on:
2016-ongoing | Permanent Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (Institute for Advanced Studies) |
2010/2011 | Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (Institute for Advanced Studies) |
2004-ongoing | Professor for Zoology and Evolutionary Biology, Zoologisches Institut der Universität Basel, Switzerland |
2001-2004 | Professor for Ecology & Evolution, Université de Fribourg, Switzerland |
1995-2001 | Assistant Professor, Zoologisches Institut der Universität Basel, Switzerland |
