One of the most fascinating questions in evolutionary biology is to integrate morphology, behavior and genetics to uncover the mechanisms of speciation and adaptation. The pigment patterns on male anal fins of cichlid fish play an important role in their breeding behavior, providing an ideal model to deal with these questions. My project is to find genetic basis of adaptive radiation and convergent evolution of these pigmentation in cichlid fish.
